I mentioned this last night, but I figured this deserved its own post. EZ is three days this year and Identity is a new nationwide electronic tour with a lineup that’s an awesome complement to EZ’s lineup without much overlap. Absolutely planning on going to both. Dates and the preliminary lineup for Identity as well as ticket prices for EZ after the jump.

May 5, 2011David Guetta f. Rihanna – Who’s That Chick? (Afrojack Remix)
April 14, 2011The internet’s gonna be super condescending about this one since it came out way back when, but this is prolly the best Afrojack remix I’ve heard thusfar. That drop around 4:16 is god-given.

Dada Life – Unleash The Fucking Dada (Original Version)
January 26, 2011We posted a vocal version way back when, but I’ve been jammin’ to the O.G. instrumental lately. Is it me or has everyone lowered the bar significantly lately for house music? I spent the day snooping around the internet to find ignorant house music, and it seems like the stuff that’s come out in the last month or so has been washed up and/or derivative to the point that it’s not enjoyable to me even with a grain of salt. I do want to keep you guys updated with new music, but at the same time none of the tracks floating around (various Afrojack remixes and O.G.’s , Steve Angello – Rave N Roll, Michael Woods, Chris Brown/Benny Benassi???, Busta over Tiesto/Diplo) have been worth posting. BTW, the EDM/hip-hop “movement” is an absolute fail so far – everyone is throwing rappers on the track for the sake of it and it sounds painfully forced. Nothing* I’ve heard has topped “Loonies to Blow.” While I had some hope for the next decade of music, it’s actually going to find a way to be more terrible than the last one.
ANYWAY leave a comment if you think there are some genuinely great jamz we’re missing out on.

* Shoutout to Bonkers and the Steve Aoki remix of “Pursuit of Happiness” and NASA’s “Gifted“
Coachella 2011 Lineup Announced

Single Review: Chris Brown f. Busta Rhymes and Lil’ Wayne – Look at Me Now (produced by Diplo & Afrojack)
January 3, 2011Am I ethically obligated to review this shit? Hipsters saw that Diplo and Afrojack were producing a track Lil’ Wayne was rapping on and this track shot up to number one on the Hype Machine charts about 18 minutes after it was released. Aspiring producers: rejoice – you can become one of the top 10 DJs in the world if you have the Fruity Loops basic package and a good weed connect. Seriously, I thought we were done with this minimalist shit for 2011? This makes “This Is Why I’m Hot” sound about as eloquent as fucking Bohemian Rhapsody. Meanwhile, Busta goes triple-time and Weezy does a verse that sounds like he conceptualized it on the ten minute ferry ride from Rikers. Diplo and Afrojack: for shame. If this song blows up beyond the internet, I’m seriously going to quit this blog, sell my turntables, move into an apartment with my girlfriend and start watching network TV every night. This must have been how the Greatest Generation felt during the 1960s. This song is godawful. What more can I say? Prodigy can say it better than I can…
“And oh yeah.. to all them rap ass niggas wit ya half assed rhymes talkin bout how much you get high, how much weed you smoke and that crazy space shit that don’t even make no sense: don’t ever speak to me when you see me, knowaimsaying? Word. Imma have to get on some ol’ high school shit, start punchin niggas in they face just for livin. Yo, I’m finnished what I had to say, ya’ll can continue on.”
1/10

Afrojack – Daft Sound
January 2, 2011It’s been too long website, I’ll never leave you again. Mentally, I still feel pretty snowed in from New Years. Back to regular posting tomorrow…and the next seven weeks or so when this will be the most interesting thing going on in my life besides the study of aggregate loss models and kernel smoothing. I also wanna do another mix before the end of the month so keep an eye out for that, I’ll chime in with snippets or previews or whatevs like last time.\
In the meantime, here’s a new Afrojack track from his new EP Lost and Found. This is an incredibly successful homage to early Daft Punk and is a nice departure from the standard Afrojack sound. That drum changeup is filet mignon. Also included my favorite DP track from the underrated* Homework.

(Sort of) Final New Year’s Mix!
December 23, 2010Holy shit, I can’t believe this actually worked out. I’m going to put some touch ups on it and put it out by hopefully the end of the weekend, but this is basically what it’s going to sound like. This was recorded in one shot BTW, so excuse any hiccups. Hope y’all enjoy it as much I enjoyed making it. Download and tracklist after the jump.
