Lil Wayne: It’s Good feat Jadakiss and Drake (Jay-Z diss)

August 25, 2011

Look I am not the biggest Lil Wayne fan.  I am not the biggest Hova fan.  Actually, I think they are both over rated(with some strong stand out tracks and a decent album here and there).  Yet, Lil Wayne’s manipulated wordplay that references H.A.M. is actually funny for a battle rap, even though neither Wayne or Hova will fire a literal shot.  So far, Wayne is winning this mediocre battle of rappers who are good because the current field of rappers suck or are outdated.

The worst, most realistic case scenario for this battle: No one winner can be decided and both rappers profit even more.

The best case scenario: One rapper is so utterly shamed and destroyed that they are wiped off the face of the Earth leaving a huge hole where Q-tip, Andre 3000, Big Boi, Pete Rock, Sean Price, Ghostface, Curren$y, Atmosphere, El-P, de la, classic Gang Starr, the revival of DMX and the Roots will eventually fill with timeless music that hip-hop has been missing.  Fuck, I’ll even take a purple haze a la Cam’ron for hip-hop to regain its one prominent AND respectful place in this world, where no Gucci, OJ, Wakka or Machine Gun Kelly could ever exist.

DJ Shadow: Stay the Course featuring Posdnuos and Talib Kweli

August 24, 2011

Dianna Agron is clearly playing dj with herself to this new DJ Shadow track.  Posdnuos comes in with that wise man swagger/swag/style and Talib as always provides an average verse.  However, Kweli has a good flow on his second part and makes up.  The horns and bass line are nice and smooth.

Fuck it, this is the best thing DJ has put out in a long long time.  Click here for the link to the song and song listing to the new Shadow album.  Just watch out for some of the few mistakes in the track listing.

8.5/10.  Oh and fuck that DJ below this post.  Shadow is in the 99.99999 percentile.  I give him 100% but the Outsider was a lil to hyphy.

P.S. the souls reference by Posdnuos is dope

Calvin Harris – Feel So Close

August 16, 2011

Here we go.  As much of a cynical fuck I am in pretty every single regard, I’m pretty goddamn sappy when it comes to unapologetically “positive” music.  Awooga and Bounce were the jawns and then he comes with this.  This is one of my favorites from this year.  What’s the deal with Calvin Harris videos?  I feel like these could all be characters in Pay It Forward.

I feel like a battered wife coming back for more with this dubstep thing, but the Nero remix is my fav tho these all bang.  Maybe because these are the only good male vocals in the history of EDM.  Shoutout to Benny Benassi.  Also shoutout to J. Espinosa who specifically edited out Fergie out of his mashup.  Out August 21st for u nerds:

El-P: Drones Over BKLYN

August 10, 2011

New El-P for Adult Swim’s singles album.  I’m a huge fan for El-P and I am kind of digging the simple and stripped down robotic sound(relative to his other works) to this song.   There really are many drones in Brooklyn now-a-days from the hipsters to yuppies to backpackers to blue-collar to white-collar to former Gambino crime family affiliates, all living a way of life to some system or routine. Last minute of this song is true El-P grit and style.

7.5/10

Murs & Tabi Bonney: Hip-Hop and Love

August 10, 2011

Song is about two weeks old with average lyrics from both artists.  Unoriginal concept but I dig the beat.  Kind of reminds me of Life Under the Scope and is making me look forward to the Murs and Ski Beatz collabo, especially since Ski did so well with Curren$y’s Pilot Talk 1 and 2.

6.5/10

Yo evypoo!!!! Remember this.  It was our 5 borough recovery song.

Watch the Throne Review

August 8, 2011

OMG lolz Watch the Throne is here.  It is clearly the greatest hip-hop album ever.  The money chaser, joe camel look alike Jay-Z, with the most egotistical over hyped, over rated rapper to ever be in the game Kanye West (I can make the same argument for Jay-Z) have combined their same non-progressing flows and lyrical themes to create something that has never been done before, an album with TWO heavyweight rappers. I wonder if Watch the Throne is the first album ever to have two rappers on it.  Read my review after the jump. Read the rest of this entry ?

Best Remixes Ever.

August 8, 2011

Remember when remixes actually contain new elements? Remember when remixes focused more on changing the song then just adding every rapper who would take a shit for a dollar? Remember when Poppa p diddy pump thought he actually created the remix?(although you could say it was due to him changing juicy that the first remix was created)  Remember when white boys didn’t have blogs?  Remember when people actually had to listen to full albums and put time into listening to music instead of just prowling on the internet? Listening to…

August 2, 2011

I wish I listened to this back in 2006 when it came out.  Oh well, I’ll enjoy it in 2011

If you stop listening to Crystal Castles’s sega genesis/new type of rave/other ring tone songs, you can here a beauty like this

Why wasn’t this remix huge????????????????????????????????

and here is the sample
