Tyler The Creator – Yonkers

February 11, 2011

This caught my eye because it’s a homage to the greatest city on the Eastern Seaboard.  I’ve never heard of him before besides of his Lykke Li remix a few weeks ago.  This is pretty ridiculous tho, like a hipster version of the horrorcore movement back in the 90s with some industrial Company Flow influence.  I’ll keep my eye on him.  No D/L for now, will update when I have one.

Nine Inch Nails – Pretty Hate Machine (Reissue)

December 2, 2010

People say that NIN is a love ’em or hate ’em-type group*, but I always sat staunchly in the middle.  I never got into The Fragile, but I liked some songs from With Teeth and The Downward Spiral**.  I always thought Pretty Hate Machine sounded rell dated, but alas, in 2010, Trent Reznor re-mastered the whole album and now the 80’s synths sound effective in both an intentional and unintentional way.  Sidenote: How emo was Trent Reznor?  This shit was the My Chemical Romance of 1989.

Anyways, I put up the newly mastered versions of the single “Head Like a Hole” and the creepy, ahead-of-its-time track from Natural Born Killers, “Something I Can Never Have.”  Enjoy, y’all.
